Keeping Calves at foot - Milk Sharing

When we brought Freya home, we never even considered the immediate separation (weaning) of cow and calf - it just didn't sit right. So, when our first calf, Bess, was born in February 2017 she stayed with Freya and we started milk sharing.
We milk once a day, in the morning, and this means that the calf (or calves, in the case of Brian and Bonnie) has ample opportunity to get the milk it needs from its mother throughout the rest of the day.
The benefits of keeping cows and calves together are vast, but essentially, it's best for the calf and its mother, and it allows for a more symbiotic relationship between cow and human.
Don't just believe us though, come and see for yourself how well it works for everybody.
